A man has been detained for the recent data leak of Reliance Jio user database. On Tuesday ,police in Rajasthan has detained a man suspected for major leak of user data from telecom company Jio.
The leak was spotted on a website named "Magicapk.com" on July 10, which left details of millions of Jio users on the web, including the Jio number, when that number was activated, email id and what verification ID was used to activate the number.
The company , Reliance jio said it is working with law enforcement agencies to investigate the alleged leak, which cyber security analysts say may be the first large-scale breach of an Indian telecom firm.
Rajasthan police ,said a man named Imran Chhimpa had been detained today evening in connection with the investigation and a team of investigators from Mumbai was expected to arrive shortly. The owner of a local ISP in the town of Sujangarh, Rajasthan, of which Imran was a customer, said he had received a query from police about the individual on Tuesday.
Reliance Jio's data breach could be India's biggest data breach ever ,given Jio has over 120 million active subscribers in the country. However, the company has not confirmed of all data was compromised and the website "Magicapk.com" has been suspended.
